Advanced Cosmetology Manipulation

Prerequisite: COS 62B or COS 70C or COS 73B with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher.
This is an advanced course designed to permit the student to complete 1600 hours necessary to take the State Board of Cosmetology examination. It provides an opportunity for the student to continue developing manipulative skills in hairstyling, haircoloring, permanent waving, chemical straightening, scalp treatments, facials, waxing, manicuring, pedicuring, and thermal styling.

This is an introductory course in the technical and related theory and manipulative skills pertaining to the field of cosmetology. It is designed to acquaint the student with and to develop their ability to perform the basic skills in hairstyling, hairsculpturing, haircoloring, permanent waving, manicuring, and facials. Emphasis will be placed on the Cosmetology Act, State Board Rules and Regulations, safety, sanitation, anatomy, and chemistry as it relates to the cosmetology industry.

This is a course in theory as it pertains to cosmetology. It provides an opportunity for the student to continue developing manipulative skill in haircoloring, thermal hairstyling, competition styling, hairsculpturing, conditioning, reconstruction, chemical waving, chemical straightening, facials, make-up, and manicuring. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, client relationships and State Board examination preparation.
