CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

The Adult Education Energy Corps Certificate of Completion prepares students to work for businesses in residential and commercial energy auditing; electrical wiring and commercial lighting retrofit trade industries. Construction is one of the largest industries, offering excellent opportunities for high earnings, career advancement, and business ownership. These workforce skills are necessary to maintain well-paying and sustainable jobs. The certificate takes the student through several levels of expertise.

To obtain a Certificate of Completion, students are required to complete the four (4) courses outlined below. AED 90.01 Introduction to Energy Surveying must be completed prior to enrolling in AED 90.02 Basic Electricity and Wiring Fundamentals.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

• explain basic electrical theory
• Identify electrical practices and codes
• Demonstrate correct wiring and installation techniques
• Follow proper procedures and observe OSHA safety protocols
• Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA safety standards
• Demonstrate the correct and safe use of various diagnostic tools and equipment
•  Identify the evaluation procedure, steps and protocols required for accurate energy data collection
• Accurately answer questions on retrofit procedure, steps, analysis, components, and safety protocols required in the lighting retrofit trade;
  Standard grading will be used
• Accurately demonstrate correct and safe use of various lighting diagnostic tools/equipment
•  Discuss the interrelationship of craft skills, construction industry, and green workers to the construction process for alternative energy
• Describe the basic elements of green construction and green energy buildings
