Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment is the term used to describe enrolling in a college course and earning college credits while still enrolled in another K-12 institution.
Benefits
- Increases high school graduation and college completion rates
- Provides early exposure to college with flexible, low- or no-cost course options
- Builds confidence and gives access to college resources and support services
- Decreases the length of time it takes for students to obtain their academic and career goals
CCAP and Partnership Dual Enrollment
Cerritos College offers dual enrollment opportunities through formal partnerships with local K-12 districts. These include College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) agreements, as outlined in AB 288, as well as other non-CCAP agreements. Through these partnerships, high school students can enroll in college courses offered at their high school campus, online, or on the college campus—tuition-free. Courses are scheduled during the school day, after school, or in the summer and are aligned with students’ educational and career goals. CCAP and partnership agreements are designed to increase college access, improve completion, and support students in earning college credit while still in high school.
Early College Program
In addition to CCAP and Partnership dual enrollment courses, some local high schools offer an Early College Program where students may earn up to 46 UC/CSU transferable units. Students enrolled at designated partner high schools who complete the full program will graduate with a high school diploma and fulfill the California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC) Certificate of Achievement, completing general education requirements for the UC and CSU systems.

K-12 Articulation Agreements
An articulation agreement is a formal document verifying that Cerritos College faculty accept a course from a high school, ROP, or Adult School as aligned to a course at the college. It includes what criteria students must meet to be eligible for college credit for that course. Students may earn college credit at Cerritos College for an articulated K12 course through the Credit by Exam process. Cerritos College has waived residency requirements for the students to receive college credit.
Benefits
- Students earn college credit while in high school, ROP or adult school program
- Students do not need to repeat coursework at the college
- Students get basic skills and knowledge prior to college
- Students decrease the cost of college tuition and textbook fees, and can complete their college program sooner.
