Plan A: Degree &/or Career Option

A total of 60 degree applicable units including the following requirements must be completed to qualify for the A.A. degree:

  1. Major Program Requirements:
    Complete all requirements for the chosen major programs under "Major Requirements" in the Cerritos College Catalog.
  2. Mathematics Proficiency Requirement
    This requirement can be met by one of the following options:
    1. Pass intermediate algebra college courses or Math courses numbered 100 or above, PSYC 210, ECON 210 or equivalents with a grade of “C” or higher or “Pass”
    2. Receive a score of 3 or better on a Math AP exam (AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC).
    3. Receive credit by exam in MATH 80. 
  3.  Reading Proficiency Requirement:
    This requirement can be met by one of the following options:
    1. Completion of READ 100, READ 101, or READ 103, or equivalent with a grade of “C” or higher or Pass.
    2. Completion of any Plan B Area A3 course or any Plan C Area 1B course or equivalent with a grade of “C” or higher or Pass.
    3. Receive a score of 3 or better on the English Language & Composition or English Literature and Composition AP Exam.
    4. Receive a credit by exam in READ 101 at Cerritos College.
  4. Writing Proficiency Requirement:.
    1. Completion of ENGL 100 or ENGL 100s or equivalent with a grade of “C” or higher or “Pass”
    2. Completion of ESL 180 or equivalent with a grade of “C” or higher or “Pass”
  5. Health & Wellness Proficiency Requirement:
    This requirement can be met by one of the following options:
    1. Completion with a grade of Pass, or “C”, or higher of at least one unit of a course from the approved department list below:
