Foster & Kinship Care Education Programs
Overview
The Foster and Kinship Care Education (FKCE) Program at Cerritos College is committed to providing high-quality education and support opportunities for caregivers and prospective resource parents. We offer a variety of trainings designed to meet both State and Los Angeles County requirements, including: Annual trainings for Resource Family Approval (RFA), Specialized Care Increment (SCI), and Whole Foster Family Home to relatives of caregivers, extended family members and foster parents (Resource Parents). These trainings are available to caregivers, relatives, extended family members, and foster/resource parents. All sessions align with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) requirements and are offered in both English and Spanish, virtually and in-person at the Cerritos College campus.
In addition to annual trainings, our program also offers contractual Resource Family Approval (RFA) Pre-Service Trainings (Modules 1–6) in collaboration with The Community College Foundation and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. These modules fulfill the mandatory requirements for individuals who have children placed in their care through the Los Angeles Child Welfare system.
