Scholars' Honors Program

The Scholars’ Honors Program (SHP) is the academic and social home that Cerritos College provides for talented and motivated students who plan to transfer to four-year institutions. The SHP values students who embrace creativity, innovation, critical thinking, open-mindedness, research, collaboration, lifelong learning, community service, and academic integrity. The SHP provides transfer-bound students with the opportunity to enrich themselves through participation in unique, challenging, and interactive educational experiences. The SHP promotes this goal by providing an office that supports and assists students by offering Honors course sections taught by outstanding professors, and by offering opportunities for students to work one-on-one with these faculty members on undergraduate research projects.

Minimum Criteria For Admission

3.0 Cumulative GPA
Consistent Academic Record
Complete English C1000 Honors and/or English C1001 Honors after being admitted to the program

Completion Requirements For the Program

SHP students must maintain a 3.0+ cumulative GPA in all their transferable courses, complete the Honors Writing Requirement, complete Plan C and major requirements, and complete five honors courses with a “B” or better.
