Overview

The main objective of the LGBTQ+ Program at Cerritos College is to assure that LGBTQ+ students have the necessary support systems at Cerritos, in and out of the classroom. Under the P.R.I.D.E. Scholars Success Program, it aims to encourage self-actualization through Perseverance, Resilience, and Innovative Development in Education.

Cerritos College is committed to fostering safe and brave spaces for all students, particularly those of marginalized identities including but not limited to our BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and undocumented students.

Confidential Advocate Services (SB 1491)
In accordance with California Senate Bill 1491 (SB 1491), the Equity Center provides access to a Confidential Advocate who offers specialized, confidential support for LGBTQ+ students and employees, to provide support to individuals affected by sexual or sex-based harassment, sexual assault, dating or domestic/intimate partner violence, stalking, and other forms of gender-based misconduct. The Confidential Advocate provides a safe, affirming, and private space to discuss concerns, explore reporting options, access campus and community resources, develop safety plans, and receive emotional support. Conversations with the Confidential Advocate are confidential, except in limited circumstances required by law, allowing individuals to seek support without initiating a formal report or investigation.

Student Alliance for Equality "S.A.F.E. Club"
In partnership with the Associated Students of Cerritos College (ASCC), S.A.F.E. Club seeks to enrich diversity, and contribute to a high quality: intellectual, cultural, educational, and safe environment for all students at Cerritos College. This space exists to ensure equitable treatment of students through promoting awareness, sense of personal empowerment, growth, and critical thinking to develop leadership and life skills applicable to the real world; to promote the idea of social equality; and to bring LGBTQ+ community members back to community college.
