First Year Programs for Latinx Students

Puente Program

The Puente program is designed to help students achieve academic and personal success while instilling a sense of belonging and community.  Puente prepares students to transfer to a 4-year college or university, earn their college degrees, and return to their community as mentors and leaders to future generations. Students will take transfer courses, tour universities, and participate in cultural events and activities to help them explore and learn more about the transfer process, build leadership and lifelong success skills.  While focusing on the Latino/a perspective and experience, students will receive counseling, guidance, mentorship by Community, Alumni, and Peer Mentors.  Puente is open to all students and is co-sponsored by the University of California.
