This course is designed to facilitate the success of students pursuing entry into a nursing program who did not reach the benchmark score on the diagnostic assessment test. The aim of the course is to aid students in identifying and strengthening areas needed in academic preparation for a nursing program, as well as to develop critical thinking and study skills essential to success. Resources available to facilitate student success will be identified and explored. This course is offered on a pass/no pass basis only.

This course introduces Licensed Vocational Nurses and students transferring from other nursing programs to the theoretical framework used in the Cerritos College Nursing Program. Elements of the Roy Adaptation Model for Nursing are taught as the basis for assessing patient care needs. Students learn to apply the Nursing Process and Roy Adaptation Model to clinical practice when planning and providing nursing care.
