CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT

The Cabinetmaking program option prepares students for employment in the woodworking industry, primarily in cabinet shops. Through courses focusing on different forms of cabinetmaking, including face frame, frameless, and CNC, students learn how to use traditional woodworking machinery, hand tools, and CNC machines. Core topics include CNC and cabinetmaking, as well as design. Electives include wood finishing, veneering, and running a woodworking business. Graduates are employed as cabinetmakers, general woodworkers, CNC operators, or are self-employed. Spatial intelligence, cognitive ability, and hand-eye coordination are recommended for those entering the program.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students build a face frame or frameless cabinet project to meet the requirements of specified planning documents.
  • Students select and install base, case, and crown moldings.
  • Students use computer software to create planning documents for cabinet making.
  • Students work as a team, designing, building, and installing a cabinet or millwork project.
  • Students install a face frame or frameless cabinet and scribe it to the wall.
  • Students design and construct a cabinet using traditional woodworking and CNC machines.
