ASSOCIATE OF ARTS
The Ceramics Program at Cerritos College teaches hand-building techniques and introduces students to the sculptural and three- dimensional use of clay. The classes explore traditional pottery forms. Students study the main directions of contemporary ceramics and are introduced to firing and glazing.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will apply appropriate surface treatments to the ceramic forms in their portfolio.
- Students design and create a portfolio of work made in ceramics that includes both wheelthrown and handbuilt work.
- Students develop an increased understanding of basic ceramic processes, including forming, glazing and firing.
- Students develop the understanding of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional design principles as applied to ceramic forms.
