Commercial Music Performance (CERT)
CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT
The Commercial Music Performance Certificate will prepare students to prepare, maintain, and operate musical instruments and audio technology for live and studio performances. Students will also train on performing live and in the studio with instruments and technology to understand music productions. This certificate will train students how to develop technical and instrumental solutions for a variety of environments such as solo performances, backing tracks for an ensemble, outdoor venues, and studio recording sessions. Students will engage in creating professional audio solutions for these environments while integrating their experience with audio hardware and software systems
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate basic keyboard proficiency by playing required assignments in piano and musicianship classes.
- Demonstrate proficiency with music technology software by completing assigned projects each semester of enrollment in commercial music classes.
- Describe copyright, publishing, and income streams associated with the music business.
- Understand and use the terminology and language of music relevant to an issue, composition, or theory.
- Demonstrate proficiency with music technology hardware and software through projects.
- Demonstrate knowledge of music theory by recognizing musical structures and harmonic techniques by analyzing music in the manner appropriate to the genre.
- Perform assigned music compositions at an appropriate level on primary musical instrument.
