ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE
The General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (GM ASEP) prepares students for employment as an entry-level automotive technician at a General Motors (GM) dealership. Courses focus on both the mechanical and electrical systems within a vehicle and how to diagnose and repair them. First year courses include fundamentals, braking systems, electrical/electronics, engine repair, engine performance, and suspension and steering. Second year courses include manual drivetrain and axle, HVAC, light duty diesel systems, automatic transaxle/transmission, HVAC, advanced engine performance, and hybrid and electric vehicle technology. Students will also increase their hands-on skills and experience by working in the field. Graduates are employed as entry-level technicians at GM dealerships and have the ability to work as a bumper-to-bumper technician or as a specialized automotive repair technician.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate safe practices when working on all types of vehicles.
- Analyze service information in order to diagnose and repair vehicle faults.
- Practice repairing faults related to maintenance and light repair (MLR), engine repair, automatic transmission/transaxle, manual drivetrain and axle, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical/electronics, HVAC, engine performance, hybrid and electric vehicle technology, and light duty diesel systems.

ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
Complete a minimum of 60 units to include the above requirements, the Associate of Science Degree requirements, General Education requirements, and electives as needed.
