ASSOCIATE OF ARTS

The AA degree in Health Education will prepare students to work as health education professionals in various settings: health outreach worker, health education program representative, and health education promoter. Health education workers typically conduct outreach programs, collect data, discuss concerns with community members, report their findings to health departments and healthcare providers, facilitate access to the healthcare services, provide informal counseling and social support, and advocate for individual and community needs. The courses are designed to introduce the student to the vast base of study needed for the future health education professional who will design, conduct, evaluate, and manage activities to help improve the health of people in the private and public sector.

  • Describe the concepts of healthy living, lifelong wellness, and stress reduction techniques
  • Distinguish the components of the U.S. health systems as it relates to their options in healthcare
  • Identify the behavior concepts that enhance their quality of life
  • Explain the importance of interpersonal relationships and health
