Academic Catalog

Welding Technology: Structural Steel Fabricator (CERT)

CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT

The Structural Steel Fabricator Certificate Program starts off by having student’s complete courses that develop their skills with multiple advanced arc welding and cutting processes. Students will complete coursework in technical math skills and blueprint reading used in the welding industry. In addition to these technical courses, students will also complete two courses in metal fabrication: Structural Fabrication and Advanced Structural Fabrication. These courses are designed to teach students metal fabrication and welding techniques along with proper use of industrial metal fabrication equipment used in the industry to build and fabricate everything from bridges to high rise buildings. Students completing this certificate program will obtain the necessary technical knowledge, practical welding skills, and fabrication experience to enter all forms of the metal fabrication industry. Employers seek capable graduates with these valuable skills.

  • Program Student Learning Outcomes
  • Students will use industrial metal fabrication equipment to cut, cope, miter, and fabricate various structural steel parts to specific dimensions.
  • Students will use manual Oxyacetylene Flame Cutting Equipment to cut, cope, miter, and fabricate various structural steel parts to specific dimensions.
  • Students will use manual Plasma Arc Cutting Equipment to cut, cope, miter, and fabricate various structural steel parts to specific dimensions.
