CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT
The Cerritos College Visual & Cultural Studies Certificate of Achievement in Technology is a unique interdisciplinary certificate using the analysis of visual and cultural objects and texts to expose students to the rapidly changing landscape of technological media and their impact on society at large.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of the link between critical theory, visual culture, and technology
- Identify prominent aesthetic, symbolic, and functional features of visual culture at the intersection of media, art, and technology
- Explain how historical, political, social, economic, and cultural movements influence visual culture related to technology
- Analyze and evaluate the ways in which visual culture and technology are shaped by socialization and institutions; and the way in which visual and technological culture shape those institutions
- Describe the cultural and historical influences on the intersection of visual culture and technology
- Compose critical analyses on specific texts that question issues of visual culture and technology
