ASSOCIATE OF ART

The printmaking program at Cerritos College offers 3 levels of instruction. Introductory courses start with history and fundamentals of relief print, intaglio, and screen-print. Intermediate and advanced levels explore the development of these processes through materials, creative thinking, and contemporary practice.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students develop an understanding of art history and how it has affected the evolution of classical and contemporary approaches to printmaking.
  • Students incorporate principles of drawing and design such as line, shape, value and composition, when exercising intaglio process.Students critically discuss their printed work in terms content and form in both a written and an oral communication.
  • Students maintain and clean-up professional printmaking facilities and use relevant tools, equipment and chemicals safely, including hand- tools exposure unit printing press, etchant, grounds, and photosensitive chemicals.
  • Students present a portfolio of print work that represents their knowledge of various printmaking techniques and defines their individual approach to communicating with imagery.
  • Students will demonstrate a basic understanding of Intaglio, relief printing and silkscreen techniques and apply it to their original print work.
