Pathway to Law School
CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT
The Certificate of Achievement in Pathway to Law School provides students with a structured academic foundation in legal studies and critical thinking while supporting transfer preparation to a four-year university and ultimately law school. This program is recognized as part of the California State Bar and California Community College State Chancellor's office initiative "Pathway to Law School." This certificate emphasizes access, equity, and career readiness for students from traditionally underrepresented populations in the legal profession. Students will complete a sequence of coursework in law, political science, English, communication, and critical reasoning that reflects competencies necessary for success in law school. Graduates of this program will be eligible for transfer support services and consideration for admission to participating law schools in California under the Community College Pathway to Law School initiative. Participation in this program does not guarantee admission to any participating university or law school.

All courses are CSU/UC transferable and emphasize skills in research, writing, analysis, oral advocacy, and cultural literacy. This combination supports the program’s goals by equipping students with broad, transferable skills relevant to legal studies while also preparing them for transfer pathways to participating California law schools through the Cal LAW initiative.
The sequence is designed to be completed over two to four semesters and may be integrated into a student’s general education or major requirements, promoting both academic efficiency and a clear pathway to law school.
